Bio Mimicry and Tech Inspirations..

A short note..

Stumbled upon a fellow classmate’s book publication on Bio Mimicry. Wrote this impromptu reflection on this topic in the LinkedIn feed.

Nature’s transcriptions and mimicry are stunning indeed. The “ribcage-like” structure in cabbage, feathers, and in the skeleton of trees.. The “petal” like shape of eyes, leaves, and seeds. Perfect “Fibonacci count” in the layered petal arrangement of flowers. The world of Nature’s “geometry” and packing!

We humans have been inspired directly or indirectly.. Or some parallels seen.

The earliest inception of Yoga Poses was through bio mimicry. “As many asanas exist as the number of myriad species.. However, a 30 or so meditative postures are useful for the mankind.” And the birth of makarasana, ustrasana, bhujangasana, gomukhasana, shavasana taking after crocodile, camel, serpent, cow and corpse.. And nature based dhanurasana, vajrasana, padmasana inspired by plough, thunderbolt, and the firm seated arrangement of a lotus.

And breathing practices such as the fast rabbit and dog, and the thermodynamic nuances in dog, the serpent, tiger and cat breathing.

As an embedded engineer, was amazed by the parallels in technology arenas. Cellular communication frequency reuse paradigm vs frogs reusing unique croaks after a certain distance where the croaks are no longer audible.

Nature’s distribution of Color palette.. Array of diverse sensors in life systems. And the design of eye to intercept colors.. And synthetic colors causing fatigue.. And scope of aesthetics..

In today’s world of AI inspired by Human intelligence.. Classification/learning in Human Intelligence vs Binary and other Clustering Algorithms. Generative ability of learning of thoughts and dreams based on past data and aspirations vs Diffusion Model et al..

Principles of self-healing, redundancy, orchestration, load balancing, power management as seen in life systems..

The DNA/RNA copy of code vs Hard Disk/Ram or Source File/Object file or Kernel/User space paradigm. Encapsulation of Organ Systems and Orchestration by brain vs Docker Containers and Kubernetics orchestration in the world of distributed cloud storage and compute in the Google and Twitters.

The List is endless. We are chip of the same Universe.. The original source code.. And we are trying to discover and explore its mysteries day by day with the lens of evolving science, and technology exploiting the paradigms for enabling modern lifestyles..
