Wireless Charging.. A dance of Qi and Shakti
Some lateral thoughts on first principles and etymology
I was reading about wireless charging. It took me back to high school physics. The generation of electricity aka Alternating Current AC.. The moving turbines under the mighty dams.. The stepping down of voltage via transformer grids, and its distribution and consumption to homes..
And the underlying principle of Magnetic Induction between the 2 Coils in the transformer.
When two coils are in close proximity.. The AC current in Coil 1 of the charger swings its electrons back and forth, stirring an unseen magnetic field. Coil 2 of the smartphone under the influence of this unseen field, kicking its electrons in an AC dance.
The AC then converted to DC ready for consumption in this smartphone, watches, AirPods and so on.
In Ancient India, the Universe, this body, breath, the rivers and mountains were all seen as a play of dynamic and latent forces.. The sinusoidal dance of electron current reminded me of this dynamism.
Shakti, like in the gait of rivers, the nurturing, calming and compassionate side of the mind and so on. And the latent force perhaps a mighty mountain, height and voltage, the logical side of the mind and so on.
And when I saw the Qi name in the charging technology, which is pronounced as chii as in tai chii and the yin yan, it was like ‘wow’.. People and cultures do think alike..
chii/qi is life force/Shakti as seen in the eastern cultures. What a befitting name for this technology!
